Real Christianity
I am going to begin a new series that is greatly influenced by Oswald Chambers (1874-1917). This great man of God has something to say to every generation. I believe that Oswald has something to say to you, because every time I read him, his words speak to my heart. I am using this work to encourage all of us to a Real Christianity, not self imposed religious piety. I pray that God will use these articles for a fuller maturation into Real Christianity.
The Bible translation I will use is the New King James Version, Nelson Study Bible. I certainly commend this Bible to you; it is a wonderful and faithful study Bible.
What Really Matters
1 Corinthians 9:16; “For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes woe is me if I do not preach the gospel.”!
The first thing that really matters is for each of us to come to Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. It is Jesus Christ who announced that each of us needs to be “Born Again”. We need to be forgiven of our sins, redeemed by His blood, and share the glorious message, “Jesus Christ saves”! Unfortunately, too many Christians believe this solely is the work of the pastor. What happens? People are invited to church but not to Christ. Some have tried religion and it failed them. How true this is. It is not religious tenants that save us, it is only a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that saves us, and this is not solely of our own doing, it is a gift from God.
I write these words to those who dare call themselves Christians. What really matters is that we now become God’s noble men and woman amid a crowd of paltry things. We get distracted, busy, and grow indifferent about the spiritual things of God. Yet, we parade about our moments of piety. I go to church, I give them money, and I am not so bad. We rationalize our own spirituality, rather than allowing God to make us and mold us in His will.
We are called to bring people to Christ, not simply the institutional church. We are called to live and preach the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. The gospel has been so altered by so many that we have failed to grasp its deepest desire for our souls. Going to church for many is a chore, getting through the service quick is the goal, and religious product has overshadowed the person of Christ. We are amid paltry things; God is calling you to something greater. Will you journey with me and find out What Really Matters?
Prayer- God, let me open myself to you and find Your purpose for my life. Use me to preach the Gospel and bring others to Jesus Christ. Amen
