Communication of the Life of God

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

The death that St. Paul speaks of is the believer’s death with Christ to sin’s ruling power. This is the central truth of the Gospel and our response to this spiritual truth. Yet, many who call themselves Christians have hardly died to self. In fact, just the opposite is true, the live life fully for themselves. One example, I know a man who is willing to spend almost 16 hours at Penn State during their game day. On Sunday, to tired to attend worship service .I know a woman who likes her weekend free, to do “her thing”, but it hardly includes attending a worship service. If more members would be committed to “making excuses” to attend worship services, our churches would be healthy and afloat in faith .We may speak of our Christianity, but I see in many that they are not “sea worthy” to cross their seas of Galilee.

As a Christian, each of us should examine our spiritual life and see if “we no longer live” but Christ within us. Too many church going folks are spiritually leaking and seem little concerned.  Spiritual leakage arises either by refusing to treat God seriously, or by refusing to do anything for Him seriously. Is your ship of faith taking on the water of the world and of sin?

There are three ways in which we can better communicate with God and steer a better spiritual course. 1) By giving deliberate thoughtful attention to the Incarnation, 2) By truly identifying ourselves with the Church, (if you were the only one who had the keys to your church would it be open this Sunday?), 3) By means of studying the Bible.

Prayer – Dear Lord, help me to die to my wants and give me strength and desire to do your Holy will. Help me to find the right path, and sail to the port of heaven.
